AI crawler tracking, on your own server

An AI crawler is the program ChatGPT, Claude or Perplexity sends to read a web page. xSeek recognizes more than 40 of them, from GPTBot and ClaudeBot to PerplexityBot, and records each visit with the page it read.

  • Runs on your server or CDN, so it sees what browser analytics miss
  • Counts assistant fetches apart from training crawls
  • A test visit tells you the install works
02

Track ChatGPT traffic, from the read to the click

AI impressions count the times an assistant, such as ChatGPT-User or Perplexity-User, fetched one of your pages to answer a question. AI clicks count the visits from people who then clicked through, read from your Google Analytics 4.

  • AI clicks by source: ChatGPT, Perplexity, Claude, Gemini, Copilot and more
  • Page by page, next to your Search Console impressions and clicks
  • Paid clicks from AI ads are shown apart, not counted as earned
03

Broken pages AI bots hit, fixed first

Every day on paid plans, xSeek re-checks the 50 pages with the most AI bot visits in the last 7 days. A page that errors or loads empty becomes an urgent action, with a notification in the app.

  • Catches real errors (404, 500) and pages that load empty
  • Says how to fix it: a 301 redirect, or restore the content
  • Closes itself once the page works again

How it works, in three steps.

  1. 01

    Install the tracker

On WordPress, upload the xSeek plugin and paste your website ID and API key. On Next.js, Cloudflare, CloudFront or another server, your developer pastes a snippet.

  2. 02

    Connect Google

Sign in with Google once to give xSeek read-only access to Search Console and Google Analytics 4. That is where AI clicks come from.

  3. 03

    Check that it works

Send a test visit from the WordPress plugin, or wait for the first bot. AI bot visits then show in your dashboard, and broken pages land in your action plan.

FAQ

Questions

What is AI traffic?

AI traffic is how AI reaches your website: the AI crawlers that read your pages, and the people who click through from an AI answer. xSeek shows both, page by page, next to your Search Console numbers. The free workspace records your first 5 AI bot visits, enough to check the install; ongoing tracking needs a paid plan.

How do I track ChatGPT traffic?

Install the xSeek tracker to see when ChatGPT's bots, such as GPTBot and ChatGPT-User, read your pages. Then connect Google Analytics 4 to count the visits that come from a link in ChatGPT.

Which AI crawlers does xSeek track?

More than 40, including GPTBot, ChatGPT-User, OAI-SearchBot, ClaudeBot, Claude-User, PerplexityBot, Perplexity-User and MistralAI-User. Each bot gives its name when it requests a page, and xSeek matches that name.

What is the difference between GPTBot, ChatGPT-User and ClaudeBot?

GPTBot is the crawler OpenAI uses to train ChatGPT. ChatGPT-User fetches a page when a ChatGPT user's question needs it, and OAI-SearchBot crawls for ChatGPT search. ClaudeBot is Anthropic's training crawler, and PerplexityBot is Perplexity's search crawler. xSeek counts assistant fetches, such as ChatGPT-User, as AI impressions, apart from training crawls.

Do I need a developer to install it?

Not on WordPress or Lovable. On WordPress you upload the xSeek plugin and paste two values; on Lovable you paste one prompt into the chat and add two keys. On Next.js, Cloudflare, CloudFront or another server, your developer adds a snippet.

What happens when AI bots hit a broken page?

On paid plans, xSeek re-checks the pages AI bots visit most every day. A page that returns an error or loads empty becomes an urgent action in your plan, with a notification, and the action closes itself once the page works again.

Does xSeek show leads or revenue from AI traffic?

No. xSeek reads sessions from your Google Analytics 4, by AI source and by page. Conversions and revenue stay in your analytics tool.
